Families are invited to gather at Book Harvest in Durham for a special Storytime Stewards event hosted by the North Carolina Museum of History. This free, interactive storytime combines reading, hands-on learning, and local history—perfect for curious young readers.
During the event, participants will enjoy a reading of Mae Among the Stars by Roda Ahmed, a picture book inspired by the true story of Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African American woman to travel into space. Following the story, museum educators will guide children through an age-appropriate exploration of North Carolina’s connections to the space race, bringing history and science together in an engaging way.
Children who attend will also have the opportunity to receive a free copy of the book and create a take-home craft tied to the day’s theme. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
